bee-havioural design
The exploration of digitally designed and additively manufactured structures with biological growth was initially analysed and recently expanded in the „bee-havioural design“ project.
The correlation between digitally designed structures and the principles by which bees build honeycomb structures on them is investigated here. In particular, the relationship between constructed geometric shapes and the interpolation of the hexagonal honeycomb surfaces were observed.
Therefore, different geometric objects were printed from cellulose, which were used to understand the behaviour of the bees.
The aim of the project is to explore the role of living matter, such as bees, as an integral part of the design process.
